AREA operates with:

Through our established network we contribute positively to consensus and development policies at regional, national and international level.

We have a proven track record of success, as follows:

Technology transfer into companies:
- 2.944 companies supported
- 1.897 innovation actions implemented
- 112 new patents filed
- increase in companies sales of 7,7% attributed to our intervention
- increase in companies personnel of 5,9% attributed to our intervention

Exploitation of academic research results:
- 298 research groups interviews
- 536 exploitation interventions
- 267 research results evaluated
- 59 patents filed
- 27 research agreements with companies
- 19 spin-offs formed
Training:
- 8.816 training hours in 2009
- 789 participants in 2009
 
THE PARK
AREA Science Park houses 85 tenants including research bodies and small and medium-sized enterprises.
The park currently employs 2.537 members of staff (an increase of over 10%, as compared to the previous year).
 
There are also 66 high tech companies based in the park.

- Information technology, telecommunications and electronics
- Physics, Materials and nanotechnologies
- Qualified services e.g. dissemination, consulting and tech transfer services
