AREA Science Park started its activity at the end of the 70s in Friuli Venezia Giulia, a region with a strong scientific vocation characterised by a high concentration of researchers, a position of excellence in the Italian scenery.
Here, in the far north eastern part of Italy, on the Karst plateau that embraces Trieste and its gulf, AREA found the ideal environment to start a unique experience which is continuously growing.
Since the beginning AREA Science Park has pursued the objective of
creating a stable and long-lasting relationship with the territory in which it is based and with which it operates in synergy, promoting reciprocal development.
AREA has been involved in the creation of a
stable technology transfer system for some years now. This system aims at underlining the importance of the results of the research carried out in Friuli Venezia Giulia and using them to support product, process and management innovation.
It is with this vision that AREA has also promoted the creation of a regional innovation network made up of
Competence Centres in the regional sectors of excellence.
Thanks to the creation of
decentralised poles (in Gorizia and Pordenone) and the cooperation in the development of the Pole in Udine, AREA has achieved a widespread presence throughout the territory, transforming the entire Friuli Venezia Giulia region into the region of excellence.
