"PADRICIANO"
AREA Science Park was created in 1978 and is the first science and technology park in Italy.
Three years later the first campus located in the former refugee camp in Padriciano (Trieste) became operational.
Today, the Campus in Padriciano covers a surface area of 30,700 square metres and is the headquarters of the Park: it is made up of 19 multi-storey buildings used for research laboratories, offices and technology services.
Padriciano houses 62 units including centres, companies and laboratories.
The AREA Science Park Consortium which manages the park is also based here.
In view of the growth and development of the Padriciano campus, a project for a new building is underway. The five-floor building with a total surface area of 6,495 square metres will provide additional space for training activities, exhibitions, congresses and will house the new executive headquarters of the Consortium.
