Technological Pole of Gorizia
The Technological Pole of Gorizia is the operational structure of AREA Science Park that
meets the need to develop the economic and production system of the Isontino area (area around
Gorizia where the river Isonzo flows) in terms of innovation and competitiveness. It also favours
the establishment of a network philosophy among the actors in local industry and research.
The Technological Pole is located in the BIC - Sviluppo Italia Friuli Venezia Giulia
(Business and Innovation Centre for the Development of Italy - Friuli Venezia Giulia region) near
the customs vehicle inspection area of Gorizia. It has the following functions:
- guiding local industry towards innovation and science;
- raising the awareness of the local economic system towards the opportunities and benefits
that derive from the use of innovative technologies;
- promoting transnational cooperation between Italy and Slovenia;
- cooperating with university and research institutions;
- providing specialised training for professional workers.

Technological Pole of Pordenone
The Technological Pole of Pordenone supports the competitiveness of local firms by providing
advanced assistance services as regards research and technological innovation and by aggregating
companies that develop research programmes and offer services with a high technological content and
level of know-how.
The Technological Pole of Pordenone is a joint-stock consortium including the following
subjects: AREA Science Park, Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, University consortium of Pordenone,
Manufacturers’ Association of Pordenone.
The Pole is developing two laboratories:
WOOD LABORATORY
Set up and managed in cooperation with Catas Spa (Research and development institute and
laboratory for testing furniture and wood-based products). This laboratory is dedicated to
companies operating in the furniture sector, to promote innovation, studies and research in the
application of new technologies for the treatment of surfaces and gluing techniques.
COMPONENTS LABORATORY
This facility is a technological reference for firms operating in the components sector with
the task of developing ideas, research and technological innovation projects for local companies
and laboratories.
