"COMPETENCE CENTRES" In order to achieve widespread regional diffusion of the innovative impetus that comes from research AREA Science Park has established a regional network of Centres which support the development of innovations within specific production categories. The network of Competence Centres established by AREA offers specilised technicians who are available in the heart of the region to provide tha various production sectors of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region with services, expertise and solutions aimed at introducing innovations in products, in the manufacturing process and in the management. The Competence Centres currently operating in the region are:
Assistance to businesses within the agro-industrial sector in developing new products and processes using innovative techniques and technology, prolonging the shelf-life of foodstuffs, optimizing existing production processes and improving product quality and safety
Support for businesses in reducing the pollutants discharged into the atmosphere, water and ground, recovering and recycling production waste, using recyclable and eco-efficient materials and reducing noise pollution.
Assistance and services for businesses operating in the marine engineering and pleasure boating sectors in adopting new production technologies, in using new materials and sophisticated instruments to design sails and hulls, as well as in studying new business-development strategies.
Support in assessing ways to reduce energy consumption, in controlling the energy efficiency of production processes and plants and in the use of renewable energy sources.
Assistance and services for businesses within the context of company management and organization, in automating the logistics and production system, in planning, programming and controlling industrial production, in the integrated management of the supply chain, in controlling and measuring performance and in the “re-engineering” of business procedures.
Support for businesses in the wood and furnishings sector in developing and testing new materials and improving those already in use, optimizing design procedures, analysing state-of-the-art products and applications on the market, identifying problems in products and studying their ergonomic performance.
Assistance and services for businesses in the plastics sector and those interested in researching, developing and using new, innovative materials, in the analysis of product defects and of problems in the production process, as well as in optimizing the recovery and recycling of plastics.
Support in disseminating innovations, maximizing the appeal of new business ventures and creating spin-off companies and micro-businesses with a high degree of expertise. The company collaborates with CBM Scrl (Consortium for Molecular Biomedicine) with regard to diagnostics and pharmaceutics using molecular biomedicine techniques, the development of the relevant equipment and the use of nanotechnology in biomedicine.
