Improve your logistic system with GEMMA
Speed up transfer times or make the most of all the space available for goods? These are the two extremes of a need perceived by numerous companies with bulk warehouses, namely the need to optimise running costs. In order to cater for this need, AREA Science Park has carried out a study intended to identify an innovative system to handle transfers more efficiently in three-dimensional warehouses.
The result is GEMMA (GEstione delle Movimentazioni in MAgazzini tridimensionali – Transfer Management in Three-Dimensional Warehouses), a system developed as part of the Novimpresa Project, thanks to the collaboration with the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Trieste.
This system is the result of one of the first scientific studies on the subject and is based on a series of procedures that, when suitably programmed, make it possible to control and automate goods transfers on the basis of the specific characteristics of the warehouse, thus improving the functionality of the latter.
