Wine Corking Techniques Manual Valeria Mazzoleni, Roberto Zironi and Barbara Campisi
This studied examines the state of the art and trends in corking wine bottles. It was carried out in collaboration with authoritative university experts. This study, carried out due to demand from local wine producers, looks at still wine corking methods and highlights the problems linked to the use of different types of natural and high-tech corks. An analysis is made of bottling parameters and the main causes of anomalous wine odours and flavours (the typical “corked flavour”), offering useful suggestions for their prevention.
A separate section is dedicated to the characteristics of synthetic corks and their market, which has experienced major development abroad over recent years and is also growing in Italy. This type of corking offers advantages and disadvantages, from both a technical and commercial point of view.
