Photovoltaic Technology: state of the art and potential for use in production processes (edition updated in 2006) Raffaella Gelleti and Elisa Tomasinsig CETA (Centre of Theoretical and Applied Ecology)
The most complete and up-to-date collection of information about what photovoltaic technology can do for small and medium enterprises was created due to the need to know more about the application possibilities of this technology and relative energy saving possibilities. The Novimpresa Project worked on the collection making use of CETA’s experience.
The success of the first edition (2003), the availability of more efficient new technology and the possibility to finance the photovoltaic energy produced, rather than the development of the system, led AREA to publish a new edition of the volume, updated as regards several points.
The new version examines the available technology and the potential offered by the photovoltaic energy system, explaining what makes it better than traditional energy sources. The volume provides a picture of the photovoltaic market on a world level, with particular attention to new proposals and future prospects for growth. It also sets out the most significant contents of current incentive schemes. The production feasibility of a photovoltaic system is analysed through examples of applications that have already been developed. The simple self-assessment software, enclosed with the volume, enables every business to obtain an initial indication of the possibility of installing a photovoltaic system in its plant.
