The End of the Car: Technological and Environmental Prospects Alessandro Levizzari, FIAT Research Centre (Orbassano)
EU and Italian environmental legislation is weighing heavily on the future prospects of the car. This study, carried out thanks to the experience of the Fiat Research Centre, offers a picture of car scrapping in the various countries of the world, describing the reference standards which will come into effect over the coming years and drawing out three possible scenarios (short and medium/long term) with particular attention to Europe, Italy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It also provides information on the most modern technology used in eco-friendly scrapping and offers a method of approach to the environment certification which can be adopted also by small and medium enterprizes.
