International scientific prestige, excellence of the laboratories recognized at a European
level, possibility to cooperate in the framework of multidisciplinary and heterogeneous teams are
but a few of the factors that influenced the choice of the over 13,000 foreign researchers and
students who chose one of the scientific institutions belonging to the CER Coordination Network. To
better understand strengths and weaknesses of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s science and research centres,
the 10th Annual Conference of the CER Coordination Network is the opportunity to listen to a group
of expert international researchers who have won international mobility fellowships to develop
innovative research projects cooperating with the institutions belonging to CER.
Talents is the name of the fellowship programme and talents themselves this year will
tell of cases of excellence and new challenges for research in the fields of health,
nanotechnologies and the environment.
Furthermore, to foster the connection between individual national and local policies for
research and innovation in European countries, relevant EU, national, and regional decision makers
will present some of their new strategies focused on the enhancement of the respective
socio-economic systems through R&I.
To follow, the award ceremony of the Premio Nobile 2011, an AREA Science Park annual prize
awarded to degree and PhD theses highlighting the importance of patents as a documentary source.
