TecnoPark Nova Gradiška: a new technology park is growing in Slavonia thanks to AREA’s collaboration
From an industrial park to a technology park. This is the ambitious goal of the
project
TecnoPark
Nova Gradiška
: Promoting entrepreneurship based on innovation, knowledge and new technologies in Brod
Posavina.
The Municipality and the Industrial Park of Nova Gradiška have started this
project in early 2011 with the objective of enhancing the local industrial area and offering to the
companies, especially SMEs, an
integrated system of laboratories, equipment and expertise
to stimulate growth based on innovation, knowledge and new technologies. The aim is
to make the disadvantaged area of Brod Posavina County more attractive to foreign investment and
thus contribute to pave the way for new skilled jobs.
Beside the Municipality and the Industrial Park of Nova Gradiška, along with
AREA have collaborated the Chamber of Commerce of Slavonski Brod, the Chamber of Crafts of Brod -
Posavina, the vocational schools in Nova Gradiska and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of
Slavonski Brod.
The project has identified the latter as a great resource of knowledge in the field of metal
processing (the main economic sector, followed by wood & furniture), that enables a closer
collaboration between research and local businesses. AREA’s experience gained in the field of
setting up technology parks and initiating technology transfer initiatives in Friuli Venezia
Giulia, Basilicata and Calabria, was put into good use through an intensive program of personal
coaching, in a close collaboration with the staff of the industrial park.
The results obtained will be presented at the
project
final conference
that will be held on
Thursday, May 31 at the Conference Hall of the Municipality of Nova Gradiška,
Croatia. The following day the
Open
Day
of the park will be held at the premises of the Business Innovation Support Center
(Industrial Park of Nova Gradiška), which will represent an important opportunity for local
businesses to get acquainted with the new equipment and the technological and training services
offered by the Centre through the project, with particular attention given to the metal and wood
processing.
A similar initiative targeting university and vocational schools students will be held on May
30.
