DOMOTICA FVG PROJECT: technological innovation for the home and more.
Partners: AREA Science Park, Friuli Innovazione, Agemont, Polo Tecnologico di Pordenone (Pordenone Technology Centre), with the collaboration of the Rino Snaidero Scientific Foundation.

Using technology to improve the quality of life, at home and work.
Domotics (or home automation) deals with the application of technology and automation solutions to private homes with a view to improving the quality of life (comfort), reducing energy consumption (energy saving), increasing security levels (security), renovating monitoring devices (communication) and managing house appliances (control and management).
The basic idea is that the struggle to compete in the already consolidated furniture sector will be won by those companies that do not only apply technology to their products, but know how to better integrate different technologies and manage to achieve this goal faster than their competitors.
However, there is much more to come. The strategy entails transferring home automation solutions – IT, electronics, telematics, optics, energy-saving devices and new materials, including micro-and nanotechnologies – to all industrial sectors with a view to innovating products and processes. Researchers and designers will examine and choose proposals and projects, ranging from technology to design, to be implemented and supervised from the early stage of development to patent release and, finally, distribution.

The project’s lines of development: a co-operation network for innovation in the territory.
The Domotica FVG project aims at creating a co-operation network for research and development in the field of prototyping and automation solutions for the home – meant as the real “sweet home”, where beauty and security meet practicality, with an eye on costs. These solutions may be eventually mass-produced and marketed, thanks to industrial manufacturing.
The project focuses on five development areas: wired or wireless connection within a restricted space, innovative materials – including micro-and nanotechnology products –, lighting systems, energy and energy-saving solutions and new business management methods.
