Objective:
STARNETregio aims to build stronger and closer operational connections between the maritime clusters of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Slovenia and the Croatian county of Rijeka. These connections are expected to foster the implementation of shared research initiatives and operational strategies comprising the synergetic integration of political decisions with a view to supporting the increase of public and private investments in R&D, innovation in the sector and competitiveness in compliance with the most recent guidelines of the European Commission (“Blue Book”, October 2007) and with the objectives of the Waterborne Technology Platform .

Activity:
This innovative project is financed by the European Commission and entails the mapping and collection of data in the three relevant territories; the identification of promising areas for transregional collaboration with the aim of launching common learning processes and development initiatives of concrete economic-scientific cooperation programmes. Moreover, the Trieste AREA Science Park Consortium promotes and coordinates the first transregional operational network of technological innovation centres providing services to companies. This opens a promising market connected to cross-border exchange of consolidated practices for technology transfer and advanced business training.
