"NANOLAB - Nanosized Cancer Polymarker Biochip"

Technology at the Service of Medicine

NANOLAB is a project targeted at the design and development of nanosized prototypes and sensors to combat cancer.

The project was approved by the Ministry of Universities and Research in 2005, qualifying for the FIRB tender (fund for investments in basic research). It entails the creation of a Molecular, Biostructural and Nanomaterial Model Laboratory.

AREA’s research is part of a broader programme involving eight public and private Italian partners, coordinated by ABO – Applicazione Biotechnologie in Oncologia (Application of Biotechnology in Oncology), based in Vega Science Park.

NANOLAB got underway in 2006 and involves the creation of a centre of excellence in AREA Science Park, where computational and molecular models will be developed and where biochips will be designed.
