Title

Development of a new technology for residential high-quality TV SAT distribution (Ref: 07 FR IFAN 0JFC)

Deadline

Mon, December 15, 2008

Abstract

A French company that has 20 years experience in voice-data-images networking is looking for a European partner active in the same field of activities to develop together an innovating Digital Home Network to distribute a high-quality TV SAT signal. Partners are requested to optimise the first prototype already developed, test prototype functioning and compliance with EMC standards, and design the final prototype for low-cost and large-scale manufacture of the system.

Description

The main goal of the project is the development of a new universal residential cabling system allowing satellite distribution without deterioration of the signal. The technology foreseen is based on SAT signal transportation over a twisted-pairs cabling system instead of the classical coaxial cable. Thus, a sole local residential network only based on standard RJ 45 plugs/sockets and a classical twisted-pair networking will allow transporting all types of signals (TV SAT and other HF signals, TNT - Digital Terrestrial TV, Hertzian TV, ADSL, etc.) into the home. Moreover, while existing technologies still use transmodulation for TV SAT transport over twisted pair (which deteriorates the SAT signals), the transmodulation-less technology will allow keeping the quality of the SAT image whatever the number of distribution plugs in the house. This French company behind this technology already developed a first prototype of this solution. However, it now needs a technological and commercial partner to develop this solution up to industrialisation: - The solution needs to be optimised and comply with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standards, which is a technological challenge for a solution running in satellite frequencies from 950 MHz to 2500 MHz. - In the growing range of multimedia on-line products offered to the consumers, this new universal solution needs to become a low-cost solution to be competitive: this French company looks for an experienced manufacturing partner in electronics to reach this aim.
