AbstractA small German SME invented a monitoring system for yachts and charter boats. The
system allows detailed information of how a boat is handled. Various kinds of misuse by the client
can be recorded and are available for charter companies. End users, especially charter companies
are sought for testing and adaptation to specific needs.
DescriptionA German SME developed a device for the in-depth surveillance of charter
boats. The system detects evidence for misuse (e.g. physical load arising from touching the sea bed
especially while embarking/disembarking) by the charterer. The charter company gets a complete set
of processed data to see how the charter boat has been used. Any information about the status quo
of the boat can be sent immediately to the charterer via text message (SMS/email). These and many
other features make it economic not only for charter companies to integrate this cheap technique in
their boats.
