Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements of the request
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on
storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders.
An RFID tag is an object that can be applied to or incorporated into a product, animal,
vehicle or person for the purpose of identification using radio waves. Some tags can be read from
several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader.
Among the areas where RFID usage is taking hold there are:
- Industrial automation and maintenance in industries with heavy capital equipment costs,
such as energy companies.
- Automotive, where active RFID tags are used in line management and quality check
applications.
- Health care providers that use RFID tags to track assets used in in-patient and home health
care monitoring.
- Physical security and control applications.
- The aerospace industry, which is actively pursuing asset-based RFID applications (asset
management and spare parts tracking and authentication).
All devices and products should be suitable for verification characteristics of RFID
equipment.
